After recovering a VM with the vSphere Replication functionality of VCF Protection and Recovery, I received this error message when trying to connect it to the network:
- Task name: Reconfigure virtual machine
- Status: Invalid configuration for device '0'
Note that when you recover a VM like this, it is recovered with the vNIC(s) disconnected from the network. This is by design so that the recovered VM does not interfere with existing VMs from a networking perspective. Resolving this issue is fairly simple.
These steps should resolve the issue:
- Right-click the recovered VM and select Edit Settings.
- Change the port group to something other than what it is currently set to.
- Click OK to save the new setting.
- Right-click the recovered VM and select Edit Settings again.
- Change the port group back to what it should be.
- Ensure the Connected checkbox next to the port group is checked/enabled.
- Click OK to save the new setting.
Your VM should now be connected to the network.
